CMSgt 179AW Command Chief CCMSgt MARK DYER


Chief Master Sergeant Mark A. Dyer is the eighth Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 179th Airlift Wing, Mansfield Lahm Airport, Ohio Air National Guard, Mansfield, Ohio.  He is the senior enlisted manager within the wing and is responsible for advising commanders on all issues pertaining to enlisted personnel.  He provides leadership and addresses shortfalls and challenges affecting more than 800 Airmen assigned to the 179th Airlift Wing.    


Chief Dyer joined the Ohio Air National on 29 Jun 1984.  After completing Basic Military Training and Technical school, he was assigned to the Services Flight as a Food Service Specialist.  Chief Dyer served in the Services flight from 1984 until 2000.  He graduated from Kent State University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology, with a minor in Sports Nutrition.   In pursuit of a full time position with the Ohio Air National Guard, Chief Dyer left the Services flight in December of 2000 to accept a position as a Production Recruiter for the 179th Airlift Wing.   He became the Recruiting Office Supervisor in February of 2003.    He returned to the 179th Services Flight in April 2007 as the Services Superintendent and was promoted to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant in August 2009. He served as the 376th Expeditionary Force Support Squadron Superintendent while deployed to Kyrgyz Republic in 2011.  In 2012 he became the 179th AW Aerial Port Flight Chief Enlisted Manager.  Finally, he became the 179th AW Command Chief Master Sergeant in 2017.
